Davvero grazie mille per aver fatto entrambe le versioni,
preferisco quella con i colori classici ma proverò anche quella
coi colori (specie se mi dite che l'installazione in questo caso
è retroattiva).

Devo dire che mi piace molto anche quella colorata, sempre a tema
scuro. Simpatico anche il purple, ma avrei scelto un altro
colore, magari un'ambra o qualcosa del genere. Comunque bel

Grazie Alfio per aver recepito tutti i suggerimenti ed aver
eliminato quell'orrendo grigiume dell'app originale. La sto
usando e devo dire che mi piace molto.

Sono sicuro che la migliorerai nel migliore dei modi come hai
fatto fin'ora. Interessante l'idea di farne due versioni per non
scontentare chi ama i colori originali dell'app (anche se a me
non piacciono proprio!!) e chi invece, come me, odia tutto quel
grigio ed ama invece la versione colorata.

like other filter types (subject and from) you can write any text
you like, the SQL query is in form: %your_text%
if you specify a jolly caracter (% or _) the query is eactly:
your_text.

group names for xPost filter are saved in the same way you see in
the message view header (the new added red/yellow line), the
group names are divided by a comma:
current_group_name,cross_post_1,cross_post_2,...,cross_post_N

filter by one only comma (,) means presence of any crosspost since
the normal post have only the "current_group_name" without any
ending comma.

I've changed it since - and reinstalled several times. I'll test
again tomorrow.

When I first tried M10 I rebuilt the filters with just 4. In
M12-M15 I added some more. I think there were 6 or 7 yesterday
before I installed M16 but it showed only the original 4.


After my post last night, in M16, I added 2.
Here is config.ini at that time:

(Those are unicode Turkish letters as you will see.)

Then:
- In settings, app, newsreader, I forced stop, deleted all storage
(it said zero) and uninstalled the app.
- I deleted .NewsReader/cache/*
- I installed M16
- I opened it

It did _not_ ask me to grant permissions to I granted them in settings.
It did _not_ ask to restore its settings. But it had restored them
- I saw my groups. Where from?

Without opening any group I displayed filters. Only the original 4.

I restored the filters - and got 6.

It appears to me that on install it restored the filters from an
earlier copy. (Possibly the file is corrupt after filter 4 but I
don't think so.)

I tapped a group:

It appears to have loaded 300 headers and _added_ them to the database
that I thought I had deleted.

All very strange. Android appears not to be deleting the app's
data and the app is accessing data from a previous installation
(which one?).

I shall try to examine /data/data/xxxxx where xxxxx is all of the
3 piaohong app-names that have been on this device. (But it is
not rooted, and I don't intend to root it.) If possible I will
wipe them all with ADB.

(It would be easier to send you diagnostics by email. My email
address is valid - just delete 123.)

apps ?
it seems like when you had reinstalled the same app, something in
the system have restored the last app data from an online

I saw all those unread threads in this view

and thought they must be left over from the previous installation.
That would have been serious and surprising. Or even from my
earlier 2.02VIP installation, which you and others will not have
had. But no, it's just a bug in the way those threads - all in
fact unread - are being shown. Not serious - it corrects itself
on next refresh.

The permissions problem might affect first-time installations, but
should not affect updates. It might depend what app originally
created '.NewsReader', i.e. what app owns it - your 1.65M
version, your 2.02M version, or (in my case) the VIP
version.

That is what I thought might be the problem. But it was not.
Deleting an app definitely deletes its data on this device (as I
always thought .) The problem was that newly downloaded threads
were being marked 'read' making them look like 'old'
data.

The app's _current_ settings are deleted too, but saved settings
are not, so on installation it should offer to restore them. That
(the offer) didn't work - but I've got used to that.

Ho provato prima la versione colorata... Ma mi è sembrata
troppo... sexy shop. Bella l'idea di mettere la "i" e migliorare
i pulsanti, ma preferisco i colori più sobri (uso solo il tema
notturno che è ottimo).
Allora sono tornato sulla versione in grigio e vedendo il verde
dei link qui sopra penso: come mai non hai usato questa tonalità
anziché quel fuxia?

non ho ancora guardato come si possa fare, ma se lo aggiungo nel
posto a me piu' facile e poi non serve a nulla, faccio un lavoro
inutile che poi mi tocca rifare.

filtri per crosspost, tutto il resto che avete segnalato qui sul
gruppo e' ancora da fare.

Per curiosità, c'è modo di personalizzare le stringhe di testo nelle
voci dell'header (tipo Organization o ReplyTo ad esempio)?
Anche intervenendo direttamente sul codice sorgente, eventualmente.

Nel senso che vorresti una impostazione per sostituire quei campi
con un testo a piacere tuo?
Dove vorresti avvenisse la cosa ?

Nel mio specifico caso, per sapere se tecnicamente è fattibile
(sono curioso). E per avere un NR personalizzabile alla stregua
di MesNews.

Effettivamente non è una funzione necessaria. Per me questo può
rimanere anche cosi.

Anche qui attendiamo il parere della talpa, anche se in realtà
avrebbe già scritto un 'per curiosità" :D ^^

Si, ci sono dei parametri che mi piacerebbe personalizzare in questo
senso: ho estratto il tuo apk e spulciato un po' il codice, ma
preferisco non mettere mano personalmente.

Per le mie personali esigenze basterebbe un'impostazione generale per
tutto il programma, ma forse nell'ottica di un utilizzo da parte di più
utenti della tua mod la soluzione migliore in prospettiva sarebbe
replicare il comportamento di MesNews su Win, dove c'è una voce di menu
per l'impostazione globale dei parametri e la stessa voce è presente
anche nelle impostazioni del server e in quelle del gruppo, con la
possibilità di fare un override oppure mettere una spunta per indicare
che si vogliono utilizzare i parametri globali.
Ovviamente in questo ultimo caso la cosa si complica un bel po' a
livello di implementazione, ma come ripeto a me basterebbe l'opzione 2:
sarebbe un ottimo inizio e una base di partenza per sviluppare poi
successivamente eventuali personalizzazioni più "dedicate".

Per quanto riguarda le altre opzioni, io scarterei a priori la prima
perché davvero mi sembra abbia poco senso: fra la 3 e la 4 forse ha più
ragione di essere quest'ultima, perché per come la vedo io il 99% delle
persone che sono su usenet utilizzano un solo server news e tendono
semmai a personalizzare gli header in funzione del gruppo su cui
postano (pensiamo per esempio alla XFace).
